Cookie policy.
I use Squarespace as my website provider, who places cookies on my behalf to distinguish you from other users of my website. This helps Squarespace to securely serve this website to you, provides you with a good experience when you browse my website and allows me to improve my site.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of data that websites store on a device. Cookies can improve your visitors’ browsing experience because they help websites remember preferences and understand how people use different features.
I use the following cookies:
Necessary cookies. These are cookies that are required for the operation of my website. These essential cookies are always enabled because my website won’t work properly without them. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of my website, use a shopping cart or make use of e-billing services. You can switch off these cookies in your browser settings, but you may then not be able to access all or parts of our website. Squarespace, my online hosting provider, collects this information on my behalf so that they can provide website services to me.
Analytical or performance cookies. These allow me to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around my website when they are using it. This helps me to improve the way my website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily.
Advertising cookies. These cookies record your visit to my website, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. I will use this information to make my website and the advertising displayed on it more relevant to your interests. Squarespace may share this information with third parties for this purpose so that they can serve you with relevant advertising on their websites.
You can find more information about the individual cookies I use and the purposes for which I use them in the table below:

Please note that the following third parties may also use cookies, over which I have no control. These named third parties may include, for example, advertising networks and providers of external services like web traffic analysis services. These third-party cookies are likely to be analytical cookies or performance cookies or targeting cookies:
Google Analytics
On the Squarespace platform there is an opt-in consent function built in via the cookie consent banner, Squarespace will prevent Google Analytics from dropping non-essential cookies on your browser until you opt-in, and in the case of an opt-out, no analytics cookies will be placed.
Visitor Consent: You will see the cookie consent banner and can choose to "Accept" or "Decline" cookies.
Consent-Based Loading: Google Analytics, which is considered a non-essential service, will only start to collect data and drop its cookies once you provide explicit consent.
Anonymous Data Collection: When you opt out, Google Analytics may still send "pings" to gather anonymized data, providing general website performance information without collecting personally identifiable data.
Google Analytics Consent Mode: The Squarespace cookie banner is integrated with Google Analytics' Consent Mode, ensuring that cookie preferences are correctly communicated.
Required vs. Non-Essential: The cookie banner will not restrict "necessary" cookies required for the site's fundamental function, but it will prevent non-essential cookies like those for Google Analytics.
